What is sildenafil and how does it work?
Sildenafil is a treatment for erectile dysfunction from the PDE5 inhibitor group — the same active ingredient found in Viagra. It relaxes the blood vessels supplying the penis, improving blood flow so you can get and keep an erection when sexually aroused.
How it works
As a PDE5 inhibitor, sildenafil relaxes the blood vessels, allowing more blood to flow to the penis. Sexual stimulation is still needed for an erection.
What dose do I need?
Most people start with 50mg. If side effects occur, the doctor can lower it to 25mg, or increase it to 100mg if the effect is insufficient. Never change your dose without medical advice.
